I paint colorful outdoor landscapes. Whether working in the studio or en plein air my medium of choice is oil. Before painting, preparatory sketches or drawings in graphite, charcoal, ballpoint pen, or watercolor ease the way into the oil paintings which are executed using a palette knife and/or brushes. My art conveys a sense of energy through texture that stems from a wide variety of mark making.

"Spinning the Prayer Wheel, Punaka Dzong" - 14" x 11", Oil on Panel - 2007 Solo Exhibition - PRIVATE COLLECTION. This is our Bhutanese guide and "sherpa". Mr. Karma helped us carry our equipment on the long climb to Taktshang Monastery. Each time we entered a Dzong, he would don the white cloth of a commoner, climb the steps to the entrance to the Dzong and spin the large prayer wheels which flank the entrances. The large prayer wheels can have up to a million prayers wrapped around the pole at their center. With each revolution of the wheel a bell rings and a million prayers are sent off!
