"Beach at Dinard with view of St.Malo, Morning"

WORK #14: July 2015 Artist Residency, Dinan •

I rented a car for 2 weeks so I could see some of Brittany. In 2013, I'd painted in St. Malo with a group of English artists, but I never crossed the estuary to see Dinard. I really wanted to see the blue and white cabanas that Dinard is famous for, so off I went! Parking was difficult on a Saturday in July. I found a 2-hr. meter, meaning I’d have to find a spot to paint, set up my equipment, paint a picture & pack up all in time to get back to add more money to the meter, and return and repeat the same thing. Enthusiastic English onlookers were happy to talk, but often a bit drunk, so it wasn’t the best time painting. Still, I perservered and got two paintings that day. WHEW!
