Sittin' Pretty

Painted during the 2022 Ohio Plein Air Society 19th Annual Plein Air Competition.

This work won 2nd Place & the coveted Artists' Choice Award.

When I saw this from a fly-by in a car, I knew that I wanted to paint it if we could get access to the farm. Luckily, the owners let us come onto the property for the day. What a pleasure it was spending time with this scene. I knew the light was going to shift quickly. But, I had made a small value sketch which helped me stick with a single light when the shadows changed.
