This quiet herb garden sits in the abbey ruins of Canterbury Cathedral. This area was once used to grow medicinal herbs, and it also served as a shaving place for the medieval monks who lived in the abbey. We found it in the evening, just as the cathedral gates were about to be locked. I really wanted to paint it, so next morning, my 10 year old granddaughter and I made our way back to the entrace gate and waited for it to open. I painted in oils, she painted in watercolor. We had the place all to ourselves for quite a long time. It was a lovely morning, and an enjoyable place to paint with my very special "Lady Natalie".
