"View of Achill Island from Elly Beach"

I spent two days on Belmullet Peninsula, Co. Mayo, Ireland. The joy and the difficulty with visiting new places is that you don't know what is there. I'd seen this beach the day before when we made a drive round the peninsula to see what was there. The next morning, we were driving back to a spot that looked great the previous evening, but this stopped me in my tracks. The blue hill is the steepest part of Achill Island to the south. This beach is covered in wonderful shells, and was voted the favorite beach on Mayo in 2018.  It was a windy, moody morning, and a nice gent stopped by to talk. He painted in oils, too, and very interested in my plein air equipment.
